According to the assessed value for fire insurance of the Natural Catastrophe insurance
of Iceland Fund, the people that suffered damage because of the landslides will be
compensated. Rebuilding will not be allowed in five plots; Austurvegur 38a where the
building Breiðablik stood, Hafnargata 6 where Framhús stood, Hafnargata 24 where
Berlín stood, Hafnargata 26 where Dagsbrún stood and Hafnargata 38 where Sandfell
stood.
It will not be allowed to rebuild in five other plots: Hafnargata 28 where Silfurhöllin
stood, Hafnargata 34 where Turninn stood, Hafnargata 29 where Skipasmíðastöðin stood,
Hafnargata 31 where Gamla Skipasmíðastöðin stood, nor Hafnargata 38 where the
Technical Museum stood.
