“I don’t know if we were moving or if the landslide was moving, at least I manage to pull the man out, we get out and somehow manage to swim out of the landslide”

Davíð saved his friend from a seven-ton truck that had moved by the landslide quite a long way. He believes that if it had been any other type of a vehicle, his friend would have lost his life. Then he ran to Múli, a house located in the middle of the landslide, to check if there were any people there. He appointed two people to see to it that people would move to a more secure location and then he ran to the rescue team house. Outside the house he found a deserted truck on its side, the engine was still running. His friend joined him and they fetched equipment from the house so they could keep the command centre going. They joined a group of people that had gathered by the sea below the old liquor store, manned a boat and sailed off the area. During the sail they kept their eyes open for people that might have landed under the landslide, on land and at sea.
