Rósa Lilja got to sit in the truck with her friend Guðlaug Vala Smáradóttir while she did clean-up work. When they are just a bit further out from the Technical Museum Rósa sees smoke coming from the mountainside. When she realises what is going on she screams at Guðlaug to back up the truck. “The mountain is coming! Gulla stop! Stop! Back up now!” A mud cascade follows huge boulders. Guðlaug sees how because of all the pressure the red storehouse is swept whole into the sea. She backs up the truck while Rósa keeps an eye on the mountain. Guðlaug sees how the landslide lands on the Technical Museum, snatches it across the street and throws it into Skipasmíðastöðin. Only the roof of Skipasmíðastöðin remains, the rest is in the sea. When the rumble stops, Guðlaug stops the truck, but starts it again as soon as it is evident that the danger has not ceased. At last they find a spot to stop and call their families. Rósa’s father tells them to leave the truck and run down to the pier and wait for rescue. On the pier they wait for the rescue team, but it is not easy for them to get to the pier because of the landslides. At last Rósa’s father receives permission to sail a boat to them in the company of two rescue team members. The friends wait wet through, shaking, and terrified that the sounds that echo from the mountain carry with them another landslide. The wait seemed to go on forever, but at last they see in the darkness a boat coming and know that they are safe.
