At the time when the landslide fell, Kristinn was putting equipment away after having been pumping water out of a basement. He ran to the scene and tried to assist the people that were already there. A rescue team vehicle was at risk and his buddy helped a man out of it while Kristinn tried to move the fire truck away from the landslide channel. They checked if there were any people inside the houses in the mountainside before they along with other people that came out of nearby houses, cleared away from the area.
