“We don’t have a clue of what the town will look like when we receive permission to return. We also do not know what’s going to happen”

Páll Thamrong Snorrason, a resident in Seyðisfjörður who is staying along with his parents and brother in a summer house in Einarsstaðir, but they had to evacuate their home yesterday same as every other people in Seyðisfjörður. Páll says that the town will never be the same again. His family does not live in the area where the landslides fell, and he says that the thought of the people who do is quite hurtful and that he dreads the moment when they will receive permission to return and see the appearance of the town. “We also don’t know how the town will look like when we can return. And we don’t know what actually happened. So because of that our feelings are conflicted,” says Páll. “We will not feel as safe as before. But we’ll look at the bright side and hope for the best.”
